  2010 Winter MAP Test Results

The “MAP” test, which is more formally called the “Measure of Academic Progress” test, is a computerized test which evaluates students’ reading, language arts, and mathematic skill levels. This test, in addition to the state’s STAR test, helps teachers, parents, and administrators understand current student levels. By looking at the results, Magnolia Science Academy schools are able to pinpoint certain areas of strengths and weaknesses in their curriculums and make informed decisions in order to promote student academic growth.
So far this school year, MSA-3 students have taken the MAP test two separate times. The data collected from the initial Fall test showed students, teachers, and administrators the areas that were weak and strong on the school-wide level as well as the strengths and weaknesses of individual students. These results were then used to propel new programs, guide the curriculum in the classrooms, and understand the needs of each individual student. At this time, students were also given the opportunity to review their scores with their teachers, set individual goals, and then make plans to meet their goals. Recently, test scores from the second MAP test taken in the Winter were received and, over the past two weeks, MSA-3 teachers and administrators have been analyzing the results. While the staff at MSA-3 is proud of the efforts and successes of every student, there are many students who staff members feel are deserving of additional praise for their accomplishments on the MAP test. Pizza parties, which also include a special conference with the principal, are being held for these special students.
